The River Street Inn consistently receives positive reviews, particularly praising its convenient location on River Street and friendly staff. While recent guests have highlighted the charming historic atmosphere and excellent food options, there are concerns regarding the lack of air conditioning and occasional operational issues with the plumbing. Offers a unique Savannah experience with a focus on hospitality and local flavors.
We recently got married in Savannah, and we stayed at the River Street Inn the week of. Jennifer Henderson is an amazing person, she helped us with our courtesy rate, getting ready space, food order for the girls day of while we were getting ready (food from the Broken Keel was great!!). We loved it! Such a wonderful experience - the rooms are comfortable, clean, the location can't be beat from a walkability stand point. The customer service was absolutely amazing. They helped make our wedding week a wonderful experience, we can't recommend this place more!!
I had an excellent experience at the River Street Inn. The food at 1882 was awesome. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We had trouble configuring the TV to our liking but Matt was extremely helpful, resolved our concern, and made us feel right at home. Will for sure be staying there again this summer. It’s also in a great location
Despite the "about" info shown, there is no air conditioning in the rooms, not surprising given the age of the building. A small fan was provided which did little to help cool the room on a very warm evening in early July. We also had a strange issue with the water where the water from the cold sink tap would run very hot after a few minutes- no idea why, perhaps we were above the kitchen- that the staff was not able to reproduce when I called later to complain. All in all it was okay though- very small room, largish bathroom with claw foot tub and shower. It'd be very cozy in the winter I'm sure.
This place was really cute. We booked last minute and was able to get a queen room. You can only book through the phone, rates range and number available through their website. The room we got was really cute and freshly remodeled, the furniture and decor was absolutely adorable. Very comfortable and the claw bathtub was also nice. Good water pressure and hot water. Bed was comfortable and I liked the sheets. The inn got a historic oldish charm that also came with some challenges. Know that you're across the rail, so while it is nice during the day, the rail runs quite often even at night. It woke me up several times a night even being a heavy sleeper. No AC but lots of fans provided, though it was still pretty stuffy and hot at night because I closed the window to mitigate the noise a little. The window was also really hard to open or close, but that's understandable because it's such a historical and beautiful place. I liked the slanted diagonal ceilings but be sure to not bump your head. Free coffee and muffin downstairs in the morning. There's a small kitchen and lounge area and it's connected to the restaurant and bar.
Owners Matt and Wendy and all the staff were great. Food was excellent and reasonable in price. Went there twice on week trip we liked it so much. Love the location too with the trains. It's an old town so enjoyed the river and all the sounds around.
Kind of confusing but 1882 Bar and Grill is on the River side of the River Street Inn. The food here is all smoke and grilled. The best food ever. The bar is great and this is the number one place in town to eat and drink as well as a great view of the river. I suggest the sample plate but my favorite is the hot wings.
We like this place. The bartenders and wait staff are the bomb! I especially like Lindsey, she a I have great conversations. The drinks are great and the food good too. I had chicken wings and they were yummy. Hubby had chili and seemed to enjoy it.
