We had an incredible stay at Tahoe Star Hotel! From start to finish, the service was truly top-notch. Every detail was handled with care, and the hospitality made us feel right at home the moment we arrived. A huge shoutout to Emma, who went above and beyond to make our stay seamless and special. The location could not have been better. It’s right in the heart of Truckee, making everything easily walkable and convenient. We loved being just steps away from amazing local spots like Jax At The Tracks (featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives) and Dark Horse Coffee Roasters (SO good!). If you’re looking for a place with outstanding service, a perfect location, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, Tahoe Star Hotel is it. Can’t wait to come back!

Love the location and all charm of this hotel. Rooms were clean and well stocked, staff was super helpful. We stayed in 8a and 8b, which was a good amount of space for us and our 2 kids.

We loved our stay at the Tahoe Star Hotel! We took the train and did not plan on renting a car. The location was directly across from the station and located right in the heart of Truckee. We arrived very late due to a 9 hour train delay. Emma stayed in contact with me starting the day before our trip. Although we did not anticipate the delay, Emma gave us clear directions on what to do if we arrived late. We let ourselves in, but due to it being so late didn’t get to see much. The next day we hopped on a TART bus and frolicked around town while stopping by the room a few times for sock changes as we happened to vacation after a very substantial snow fall. The hotel rooms are very modern and cute, but you still get that antique charm. There was a coffee and tea bar, a vending machine, and snacks provided in the lobby. It was very easy from booking the room to checking out. We enjoyed reading about the history of the Hotel that was provided in a directory/info booklet in the room! Overall we loved this place and is we are ever back in Truckee we know where we are staying!

If you're looking for a hotel in downtown Truckee this 100 percent the place. The hotel was clean, friendly, updated and the location is perfect walk ability to downtown. Emma and the staff were so friendly and helpful, seriously went above and beyond to make our stay so great. They helped us with local restaurants, let us keep our bags the past check out and even gave us a coupon to the spa at Martis Valley Massage and Spa. The rooms were clean, updated and the bed was really comfortable. Will definitely be back soon!

The Truckee Star is so cute and our rooms were delightful. It is very clean and has a couple of gathering room. Truckee is such a cute little town with so much to do. We found the trail that follows the river and went up the hill to explore. The location of Truckee Star was perfect. You can walk everywhere. The train ride from Roseville was a blast. Emma was so kind and helpful, the perfect hostess. Can't wait to stay at the Star next time????

This place is so amazing, I had such a great time here, I don’t know where to begin, so I’ll start with the extraordinary service and especially from wonderful Emma, as I had issues booking online I emailed them and Emma was just so helpful welcoming even though I had such particular problems, she made me feel right away like I made the right choice. You can really feel in every small detail that they really care about your experience there. My room had views to river and such a comfy huge bed. It’s location was perfect - on the one hand peaceful and pastoral right by the river, and yet in the heart of this small beautiful town and within a few minutes walk of most it has to offer. Truckee also has a free bus and shuttle service (TART) which runs right by the hotel, so you can really get around here without a car and go to Tahoe and Donner lake. This is one of the oldest buildings in town, really such a unique experience. I feel lucky to have stayed in this place, wish I could have stayed longer, and will definitely be back! 5/5!

Excellent stay — highly recommended Location is exceptional. I stayed in Room 5: the room is simple but a good size, clean, and comfortable. There’s no air conditioning, but in August we were perfectly fine with the window open. Staff were sincerely friendly and kind. Nice touches like free sparkling water and fresh fruit. Trains can be a little noisy, but it wasn’t a big deal for us. The value for money is outstanding—price-to-accommodation ratio is excellent. I recommend this hotel 100%.

So many things to do in Truckee and this hotel is at the center of it. The manager Emma was very kind and helpful and knows the good places to go and things to do. Room was clean and accommodations were very great!

This family-owned hotel is all about the little details that make a place special. We got the last room available and for one night it was almost perfect! Loved: the choice of furniture, bedside sound machine, wonderful sheets and bedding, the organic coffee and snacks available downstairs and the location. Missing for us was hot (not warm) water and someplace to dry wet clothes in the room. The stairs are steep if that’s an issue, and there are no TVs— which I LOVED! I’ve already recommended this place to my neighbors for a getaway. I’d love to go back. Truckee has really grown up and TSH reflects all the nice things about that.
