8 months agoOn my recent solo trip to Donner Lake, I was very pleased with the room, the location, and the ease of check-in and check-out. The grab and go breakfast was perfect for me—it allowed me to get started with my outings for the day (and the blueberry scone was delicious)! This is a special place, and I will return!

9 months agoThis place was fine. But the room we stayed in was tiny and what usable space it had was filled with unusable stuff: a double bunk bed plus a queen bed. You could have children or luggage, but not both. An unusable breakfast counter staring at a wall 18" away. A tiny tiny bathroom with a toilet and the smallest functional plastic shower box you could imagine. Breakfast was premade burritos, chocolate croissants, and a push button coffee machine. It was an easy walk to the lake, but no lake view. Owners might be real friendly and nice, but we never encountered them. We liked being by the lake and we liked waking up in the trees. So, just set your expectations right and the place will be just fine.

11 months agoRooms dirty. Sheets not changed for the top bunk beds. Bed bugs. No room service available. We had hard time checking in as no one was available for reception area.

over 1 year agoBeautiful, cozy, warm rooms with awesome hot tub and generous breakfast w lots of options (all veg friendly!). We sat in hot tub looking up at stars and loved the gas fireplace and nook in the room!

over 1 year agoHad a great time here. Room is very clean and cozy with wonderful fireplace. Beautiful view and breakfast was good. Very fast Wi-Fi. Also be aware there is no reception desk per se. You just have to check in through text message ?

over 1 year agoWas great because Old 40 was open for quick access to Donner Ski Ranch and Sugar Bowl. Pastries were over cooked for breakfast.
