Recent reviews paint a concerning picture of Old Greenwood Cabin 13, primarily due to widespread and persistent vermin infestations, coupled with unresponsive management and misleading offers for compensation. While some guests have praised the amenities and location, the severity of the cleanliness issues significantly detracts from the overall experience.
We had a deeply disappointing experience at Old Greenwood last summer that I feel obligated to share for other families considering a stay. We have been coming here every summer for almost a decade. Multiple cabins, including ours, had clear and ongoing vermin infestations. There was mouse droppings throughout the kitchen and bedrooms, we saw mice actively running across the living room floor, and even discovered what appeared to be a nest outside with mice entering through unsealed gaps in the structure. This was not an isolated or minor issue—it was a serious sanitation concern. What was most concerning is that management acknowledged they were already aware of the problem and claimed they were “taking steps” to address it. Despite knowing about the infestation, they continued to rent out the cabins without resolving the issue. The situation made for an incredibly stressful week. We had to have someone come out daily to check and replace mouse traps and attempt to sanitize the space just to feel it was somewhat safe for our baby. Even more troubling, each cabin we were moved to had the same issues, indicating this was a widespread problem rather than a one-off occurrence. After our first night, we wanted to leave and find alternative accommodations, but were persuaded to stay with the promise of a future complimentary stay. Unfortunately, that offer turned out to be misleading. We paid for a 7-night summer stay in a 3-bedroom cabin, but when attempting to rebook, we were told the “complimentary stay” only applies to a limited, separate inventory with extremely restricted availability. The offer included undisclosed restrictions that made it effectively unusable for a comparable stay. Communication specifically with Virginia and Ellie has been dismissive and unhelpful, including being told we were “not listening.” For documentation purposes, I have retained emails from management as well as photos and videos clearly showing the infestations across multiple cabins. This experience not only fell far below expectations, but it also cost our family valuable vacation time. Given the cleanliness concerns, lack of accountability, and misleading resolution process, I would strongly caution others before booking here—especially families with young children.
Beautiful cabins with quality furnishing and amenities. Fully stocked kitchen, just bring your own food. Each fractional home is located on a section of the golf course, the homes have private hot tubs.
Family gets together at the cabin every year for one week here and have a great time ??
I stayed in a 2bd in the Ironhorse North building overlooking Northstar Village during a business trip late April. Buildings were beautifully updated, clean, and parking was a breeze. Super convenient location central village, steps away from shopping and dining (though being in mud season hours were limited and some dining locations closed). Fantastic staff on site, very attentive and answered all of my + my colleagues questions. Would absolutely return for a ski trip!
We've been here from Sunday to Saturday. The room was clean and pretty big. There were: 1. A small table with two chairs for breakfast 2. Kitchen with needed things, a microwave, a fridge, an electric stove 3. A table for a laptop and a chair 4. A pretty hard bed (it's an advantage) 5. A bathroom had a lot of storage boxes and a spacious shower with strong and excellent water pressure. 6. Wardrobe with hangers and a dresser. 7. TV 8. The Internet had a fast speed. 9. The gym is awesome and new 10. The individual storage for snowboards and ski at the first floor. Disadvantages: 1. It's a hotel, but nobody came to clean our room for 6 days living here). But here were enough additional towels, and also had a vacuum cleaner). I think the staff could be warned us in advance about it. 2. Late check-in (5 p.m.). If you want to arrive earlier, they can do a half check-in (park a car in the garage). 3. Poor soundproofing (listen in my video below). 4. Sauna didn't work. Overall, the hotel has a perfect location (2 min to the gondola.
Attempt to check in at 730 tonight for a three night stay. Had called prior about late check in, informed keys at gatehouse. Arrived with my family, gatehouse closed. Called security number on wall, no ans. Called reservations and they could not locate anyone. Reviews message I had received prior, told to visit Welsh at northstar, clerk said yeah and knew cabin number. However, he also could not locate security to get keys. Now at Hampton in. Wow they rock
I just returned home from an incredible stay at The Northstar Lodge. Never enough time spent on vacation but you have to go here. The accommodations and village were spectacular. I walked through the village every morning with my coffee admiring the architecture of the lodges and sat by the fire pits in the evening. The service and hospitality I received from Tahoe Mountain Lodging was special. Every conversation I had I felt like I was part of their family. They were so accommodating and helpful. I plan on returning this summer to take advantage of the beautiful surroundings and outdoor activities.
Thank you to the front desk staff at Tahoe Mountain Lodging for making my first visit to Northstar so enjoyable. Everyone was so welcoming and I really appreciate the genuine hospitality provided! My condo at Catamount was clean, spacious and very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and I was able to make a quick breakfast before heading out for the day. I loved having covered underground parking, close to the elevator, which made getting to my condo so easy! I can’t wait to go back to that beautiful and amazing place!
Great resort. Golf was fantastic. Staff was very friendly and helpful! Awesome track!
Had an amazing stay here with Tahoe Mountain Lodging. The Front Desk was welcoming and extremely attentive with our many requests. Our residence was a spacious three bedroom three bath with a beautiful kitchen we fully utilized entertaining the family. The underground parking was vital as there was a surprise spring snow storm the day we arrived. It was lovely to enjoy the falling snow from our balcony. A wonderful stay enjoyed by all.
