Martis Valley Lodge receives mixed guest reviews with both exceptional experiences and significant concerns. While many praise the friendly staff, comfortable rooms, and convenient location, recurring issues include high fees for extras like parking and breakfast, dated facilities, and cleanliness concerns. Recent renovations have improved the property, but significant work remains.
I'm giving this hotel two stars to improve its service. Our hair dryer broke, and we waited two hours for a new one, but our hair had already dried on its own. We later discovered that the outlet must have been broken. Breakfast isn't included in the price, which surprised us greatly. We had to pay about $20 per person for questionable food like cereal and muffins. We declined and went to the store across the street to buy food or bought it in advance for our room. The refrigerator is small, and parking near the hotel is also a $20 fee. You have to pay for everything, including laundry. The conditioner in the bathroom ran out and was empty. The location to the resorts is ok, but it could be better. It's good that there are shops nearby; it's a quick drive of about 3 miles. The rooms are cramped. We also had a terrible view of a large warehouse with some kind of equipment where workers were walking around, and on the other side there was a view of a gas station.
I had a wonderful experience at the Martis Valley Lodge! Elizabeth was so friendly and helpful at check-in, the kind of person you want to deal with when you come in off the road. Spencer at the bar was very helpful in recommendations on things to do in the area, and took great care of me at dinner. Adan was another smiling and friendly face the next morning when I left my trailer for a little while to go explore the Lake Tahoe area before heading on my way. The room was wonderful, the bed was great, the shower felt wonderful, and the decor was on point. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay! I do vote for larger coffee mugs and getting rid of those Nespresso machines in favor of Keurig, Nespresso just taste terrible to me. Fortunately they had Drink Coffee Do Stuff brand coffee in the lobby, and it was so good I had to go eat breakfast at their place in Incline Beach! Thanks Kyle, Elizabeth, Spencer and Adan for being wonderful hosts!
We stayed here for our final night in Tahoe and definitely like the property. The room we got was an upgrade and very comfortable and nicely furnished. Very spacious for our family of four. Parking was easy but I wonder if it may get a little crowded during busy season. Service was fantastic and special props to Adan who was at the front desk who was very kind, courteous and helpful. No complaints on our end, but simply a thank you from our entire family to Hilton and the entire crew at Martis Valley Lodge! 4.1 stars rounded up because we love Tahoe!
Took the wife to kings beach for a perfect little date night and didn’t want to drive all the way back to Reno, so we stayed here and it was perfect spot. Convenient not only to Northstar/truckee, but also north Lake Tahoe! The renovations look awesome! Would stay again!
We had a fantastic stay for 3nights at this hotel. When we checked in our room wasn’t quite ready and there was a back up in the lobby, but thanks to Elizabeth - she got us into an incredible room and made sure that our stay was welcomed. Turns out it was one of her first days running the desk, and even though she was kinda up against a lot - she handled everything professionally and kindly. We would definitely return to this hotel. Thank You Elizabeth. many cheers.
I don’t usually write reviews, but this absolutely deserves one The general manager Kyle and The team clearly know what they’re doing. They were responsive, knowledgeable, and actually made sure we were taking care of. I had an excellent stay at this hotel. From the moment I arrived, the room was spotless, the bed was dangerously comfortable, and nothing had that mysterious “hotel smell.” If this place were a person, I’d trust them to parallel park my car
We had an incredible and unforgettable stay. Our three day weekend turned into a six day impromptu vacation because of a massive winter storm that dropped nearly four feet of snow during our visit. The staff was stretched thin but they all went above and beyond at every turn. I learned that their food delivery truck crashed on the way to the hotel and the manager took multiple trips in his own car to get their order off the truck. The hotel remained warm, welcoming, and clean throughout it all. It’s one thing to provide great service on a normal day, but this team truly proved what an amazing establishment they are during this crazy winter storm. We left feeling cared for and very grateful for the lengths the staff went to. The roads were finally safe enough for us to leave the hotel and drive back to the Bay Area on Friday. But the memories of being snowed in during a huge Sierra winter storm will stay with us forever. It was truly a memorable week. Highly recommend.
Service is horrible. I paid $950 for a room Feb 20. They charge around $20 for breakfast per person and $20 per car. The check in was very slow. Check in was at 3pm. Room was not ready until 6pm. For the three hour wait the hotel gave me a $10 voucher to buy snacks. Can’t believe the generosity! The rooms were fairly nice but the floor is tile/stone surface. Very chilly on feet. Must wear socks or shoes. Breakfast was a disaster. I went down to breakfast at 8:45am for breakfast. Dirty dishes everywhere. No staff servicing breakfast and no one doing any cleaning. Another guest said they have already been waiting at the counter for over 5 minutes and have not seen any staff. I went to the kitchen to look for the staff. Management of this hotel is seriously lacking.
We want to sincerely acknowledge how friendly and accommodating this hotel has been for our family. Kyle, the General Manager, is absolutely amazing, and the entire team deserves recognition and appreciation. Although this stay wasn’t originally part of our vacation plans, we couldn’t be more thankful for the care and professionalism shown to us. The team clearly had their hands full tonight, yet they handled everything with grace and kindness. A huge thank you from our family!
We stayed here a few times before the renovation. The Hampton has always been a good brand, but the renevation to Martis Valley Lodge was a huge upgrade! We've stayed a couple times since the renovation. Love the spacious rooms, amenities and technology! The staff and service are top notch - friendly, professional and timely/helpful. Location is perfect, especially if you're in to winter sports, but all year it's a great location because of it's proximity to Lake Tahoe and all that the Sierra brings. We've used as a destination and stop-off point when traveling from the SF Bay area. Great hotel, highly recommended!
